WORRY IS SELF-IMPOSED

“Matthew 6:25-27 (NIV) says, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”

Worry is not something we should indulge in. I have fallen victim to the venom of worry. Worry causes sickness, anger, depression and many other issues. Worry creeps in and rest and relationships suffer. It hijacks your mind and all you think is negative thoughts. I have found it hard to be creative when I worried. I didn’t pursue relationships or take risks because of worry. Why do we wrestle with somethings we can’t change? One pastor says, “It took me years to realize that when I went to bed I shouldn’t go with half my day wrapped around my head. I wrestled all night with issues that couldn’t be resolved until morning anyway. I can’t tell you how many days I went to work feeling like the worn heel of an old shoe. I was less effective, tenser, unable to perform to full capacity, and it took a toll on my relationships.” God tells us to pray about everything and not to worry about anything. Pray, tell God what you need, and praise him for all He has done. God may not answer right away, but if it’s in His will, things get done. We can and will experience the peace of God on earth. Fix your mind on Him and truth, then our God of peace will be with us. Today let go of worry and allow God to take care of your needs.
